Foreshore Permision when not owned by the Crown

Postby albertwybert on Thu Jan 14, 2010 10:11 am

I have been informed locally that the foreshore in Felixstowe is owned by Trinity College Cambridge.
Has anyone previously got permission from them before or knows how to go about it.

You might try chatting to the local Coastguard as they are generally appointed "Official Receiver of Wrecks" for most of the coastline. They will probably be able to guide toward the right people.

The Crown owns all foreshore on the British isles, and up most tidal rivers,, The red areas marked on the map, are where you are allowed to detect,,, including the foreshores you have asked about ,once you have applied for,and obtained,a permit,,,,they willl also send a map of where you are ALLOWED,, "MARKED IN RED"....Not what they own,, marked in red,, they own it all...but some of it is Wildlife Havens,, Bird Sanctuarys,, bombing ranges,, etc,,,NO GO AREAS<<<,I will now proceed to get off my soapbox,,, I thank-you...

Not quite all Foreshores there are some isolated examples. I believe the Beaulieu and the Blackwater are two examples.

Some in Scotland are owned by the council, the local police can give advice on whether it is legal to detect.
